The library was established in 1848. The library is spread across an 85,000 sq. ft. area. It is a four-storeyed building. IIT Roorkee library has a rich collection of more than 3,20,000 documents, CD-ROMs, Online databases, audio-video material, standards, specifications, theses, reports etc. It also has access to more than 8000 electronic journals.

The Institute has over three campuses namely a 365-acre campus at Roorkee, a 25-acre campus at Saharanpur, and a 10-acre campus of Greater Noida Extension Centre at Greater Noida. IIT Roorkee has 8,000+ students, hostels, clubs, sports facilities, guest houses, 10 boys' hostels, three girls' hostels, one coed hostel, and six married couples' hostels. In the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, a student gets his/her tuition fee waived as per the following criteria.

Full Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to the most economically backward students having a family income of less than INR 1 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year.

2/3 Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to economically backward students having a family income in the range of INR 1 LPA to INR 5 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year

The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is available only for the normal duration of the programme. For dual degree programmes, it is available only up to the 4th year.

IIT Roorkee accepts IIT JAM scores for admission to the MSc course. Analysing the IIT JAM cutoff, MSc in Economics was turned out to be the most competitive specialisations when compared it with the other four specialisations. For Mathematics, the Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks were 247 and 272, respectively for the Economically Weaker Section category candidates for the All India Quota. So, considering the 2023 cutoff ranks, yes a candidate can get into IIT Roorkee with 200 rank in IIT JAM for MSc in Mathematics.
