You have to practice a lot of MCQs and then solve previous year's question papers and after that, study the syllabuses of 11th and 12th to be able to cope up with the big syllabus.

Most of the aspirants are in the dilemma, whether they will get a seat or not. How much paper they should attempt? How to judge whether the paper is tough or not and so many other similar questions. What I have been telling all my students is a simple mantra. Think as if you have to attempt any one of the two consecutive questions. That means you need to attempt around 50% of the paper. Even if you can get around 40 % overall marks you should be able to score around 2500 rank which is a very decent rank for someone who is not sure whether he will get a seat or not. Hello Sanket,
In order to be a professor of physics at an IIT, you must complete your B.Sc physics with good grades and get into any of the top-notch Masters programmes of the country, namely, in IITs, HCRI and some other top universities of India like DU, JU, JNU and CUH, and then get your doctorate done from the prestigious universities in UK and USA followed by 2 or 3 years' post-doc in physics.

It is surely worth it. Also, yes GATE is compulsory and you have to get a good rank within 100 to get into a good IIT.

There are few tricks which really makes a lot of difference in your preparation. I would like to share with you. Do not let any negative factor impact you in any manner. Set it in mind that you will have to understand the concept. Ask your faculty members about which books you should follow. Stay focused towards your goal to crack JEE Exam. Set short targets and try to achieve them first. Be regular in class with full attention. Never keep a backlog. Study smart. Keep on revising the concepts on daily basis. Must join a test series. Work on sitting habit.

It changes as per the different years. For cutoff it is about 70 marks. And to get admission in NIT your JEE Main rank should be under 15K about 200 marks. And, for IIT your JEE Advance rank should be under 10,000 about 175 marks in JEE Advanced.
