The first-year transfer from NIT to IIT cannot happen directly because IITs do not have student transfer policies. Student relationship programs between NITs and IITs let qualified students from NITs study at IITs as per mutual agreement protocols but only for limited academic periods. Students should first clear JEE Advanced and obtain admission as a new entrant to join an IIT. Current policies of the IITs forbid direct student transfers from NITs while they do present research internships and special programs that allow NIT students to join but not through direct admission routes.

If you are going for UCEED 2025, then I found these colleges for you as they are government colleges by preference. Delhi Technological University (DTU) provides a B.Des through UCEED scores with a rank below 500-600 with a solid design and tech focus and is based on a minimal government approach.

National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, takes UCEED for the UG programs it offers and requires a rank below 200-they are great in terms of creative excellence. University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun: This is semi-govt and has a B.Des programme that is considered UCEED-fresh for admission-with a rank under 1000 requi

With a JEE Advanced rank under 1000, you have a strong chance of getting into IIT Bombay or IIT Madras, potentially in top-tier branches like Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, but IIT fees for a B.Tech range from approximately INR 8 Lakhs - INR 10 Lakhs.

Can you get into IIT Bombay or IIT Madras with a rank under INR1000

Yes, you likely can.

With a rank under 1000, you're in a strong position to gain admission to top IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, and IIT Kanpur, potentially in competitive fields like Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

To be eligible for admission into NITs (National Institutes of Technology) or IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) after completing your 12th class in Telangana, you need to focus on two main criterias:

your marks in the board examination and your performance in the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination).

If the candidates preparing for IIT Hyderabad get around 10000 rank in JEE Advanced but not getting selection for the CSE course, however, for the same rank, they are getting top NITs for the CSE course, then they should opt for top NITs.
