You need to appear for the qualifying exam (12th standard exam) in the year in which you will be writing JEE or you should have completed a year before you are appearing for JEE Mains and Advanced.
So probably at the age of 16 years you can appear or JEE main and advanced.
Then you must have at least 75% in overall percentage and aggregate marks in PCM of 75%.
There are 2 attempts of JEE Advanced and 3 for JEE main.
If you satisfy these then you can get NITs and IITs.

For appearing in IIT - JEE exam, you need to clear JEE Mains exam. Unfortunately, you can't give JEE Mains exam if you have not appeared for 10+2 boards. Try securing admission via Diploma to Degree counselling. But remember, IITs don't have a quota for Diploma to Degree students.
Hope this helps.
All the best.
