Of course, it is. But only when you're into R&D or teaching roles. Otherwise, there's no point in spending your time and effort on a PhD degree. You can get a well-paying job even with a master's degree.
A PhD degree is time-consuming, requires extensive research work, and has low stipend compared to international universities, so choose wisely.

Students have been increasingly drawn to this field in recent times. When it comes to a career, the most prevalent options are research, academia or working in private labs/ agencies or clearing various government exams. Employees for central/state labs, police, CBI, IB and Customs are recruited via UPSC, PSC or department exams.
