That's a fantastic question! As a BiPC (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) student, you have a wealth of options at IISER Bangalore and IIT Madras. At IISER Bangalore, you can pursue a five-year BS-MS dual degree program, where you can major in Biology, Chemistry, or Earth and Environmental Sciences. At IIT Madras, you can apply for the four-year B.S. degree in Biological Sciences. These are excellent choices for a student with a BiPC background, offering a strong foundation in Science with opportunities for interdisciplinary studies and research.

Yes, IISc Bangalore is said to be harder than IITs in some of the programs, particularly in admission and in the academic aspects. The institute is distinguished by paying high emphasis on research, innovation, and academic excellence. Only the candidates in the highest percentile in exams such as JEE Advanced, GATE, JAM, or KVPY are accepted in IISc. It is more difficult than most of the IITs as it has its recognition globally and because of its high patent record as well as its emphasis on in-depth scientific knowledge.

IISc Bangalore admission is competitive due to high cutoff and limited seats. The entrance tests required for getting admission in the institute are taken by many. Hence, the chances of securing seat becomes less. Students are required to perform well in the entrance exam required for their course to get admission in the institute. In 2024, the JEE Main closing R1 cutoff for General category candidates was 903 for BSc (Research) in Physics.

IISc Bangalore considers JEE Advanced scores for admission to BSc and BTech programmes. JEE Advanced is usually conducted in May every year. Once the exam is conducted, the conducting IIT releases response sheet and provisional answer key. Once the JEE Advanced results are out, JoSAA Counselling starts.
