Division of Mechanical Sciences of IISc has very competitive cutoffs. The General CAT cut off of the GATE score in the Mechanical Engineering branch in *M.Tech* was approximately *665-690* in 2024. There are also PhD admissions which mandate that one should score high in GATE (approximately *650 in general*) after which one is subject to an interview. The 2024 cutoffs of *Bachelor of Science (Research)* programme were approximately: JEE Advanced *AIR 353*, NEET-UG *AIR 600*, and IAT rank *17-38* of General category, depending on the course or programme and the exam. The entry points of reserved classes are very low.
