The hard core is the compulsory subjects for M.Tech at IISc Bangalore. The curriculum is divided into three parts such as Hard core, Soft Core and Projects. It is the total of 64 credit (40 credit course work + 24 credits projects). The following is a list of hard core subjects at IISc Bangalore:

M Tech admission selection is only through GATE. M Des admission selection is through GATE/CEED followed by a Design Aptitude Test and interview; M Mgt admission selection is through GATE/GMAT/CAT followed by a group discussion and interview.
After screening based on the GATE/CEED scores, design aptitude test, and interview will be conducted by the department. Selection will be based on performance in the written test and interview. Weightage will be 70% for GATE/CEED score and 30% for the test/interview.

Yes, from 2011 onwards, 4 years Bachelor of Science (Research) programme is offered at IISc. The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in +2/12th Standard. In addition, the candidate need to qualify in one of the national tests – KVPY/ IIT-JEE (Main) or (Advance)/ NEET.

The past years' placement statistics are not available on the official website. However, the NIRF report 2023 includes the past few years' placement data. As per the report, a year-on-year decline was recorded in the number of UG (4 years) students placed over the past three years. On the contrary, a year-on-year growth was observed in the number of PG (2 years) students placed. Additionally, the number of PG (3 years) students placed has been fluctuating over the past three years. The table below mentions the IISc Bangalore placement trends from 2020 to 2022:
