Industrial Design Centre - IIT Bombay Admission Process

Admission to IIT Bombay's MDes programme is based on the applicants' performance in CEED, followed by a written test and inteview conducted by the institute. Candidates who have a valid CEED score and fulfil the preset eligibility requirements can visit the institute's official website to submit an online application. Such application must be submitted along with the required documents and the applicable application fee which varies from INR 150 to INR 300 for different reservation categories. The institute shortlists applicants based on their CEED score.  Shortlisted candidates have to appear for written test and an interview round at IDC School of Design. The final selection list is released by the institute based on the following criteria:

Yes, IIT Bombay accepts UCEED score for BDes admission. The category-wise rank obtained in UCEED indicates the candidate’s position in the respective category at the time of the result declaration. A merit list is released with the names of shortlisted candidates. The shortlisted candidates have to register for counselling with a non-refundable application fee of INR 4,000. They have to provide their institute order preference. The institute conducts three rounds of seat allocation. The seats are allocated based on the applicant's All India Rank in UCEED 2024. Shortlisted aspirants will be sent provisional allotment letters via their registered email. Candidates need to pay a seat acceptance fee to confirm their admission.

IIT Bombay admission to BDes course includes various steps. Starting with registration to entrance exam, counselling and seat allotment. Before jumping to application, candidates must also check their eligibility. Any candidate who have completed Class 12 can apply for BDes course. 

Step 1: Registration

Candidates need to apply online for BDes course with an application fee of INR 3,800 for open and INR 1,900 for reserved category. The common application form will be available through the IIT Bombay Admissions Portal. 

Step 2: Selection

The selection to BDes course is based on UCEED rank. A merit list is prepared based on UCEED rank of the candidates.

Step 3: Counselling

Once shortlisted, candidates need to register for counselling. The seat are alloted based on the UCEED rank of the candidates. Aspirants must pay the fee to confirm their seat in the institute.
