The B.Tech programme in Marine Engineering is the entry point for prospective engineers. IMI uses the IMU CET test to select students. The IMI is one of the best private institute in it's segment. The admission process is very easy, the students who passed 12th with 60% marks are eligible for counseling process. The students must have 50% marks in English 10th/12th/diploma with valid score. The IMUCET is the entrance examination conducted by the college for admission. IMI and IILM University are the best private institutions in their segments. IMI provides various UG programs in Marine engineering whereas IILM University provides education in general category of engineering. The IILM University offers more than 10 courses where IMI offers only 2 courses. The placements of IILM University is quite higher than that of IMI that is 78%. The fees of IILM University is far lower than that of the IMI. The infrastructure include Broad Campus, Garden, Laboratories, Cafeteria, Medical Assistance etc. Hence, I would say IILM University is the best option and IMI is more expensive comparatively.

International Maritime Institute does not provide any direct scholarships. Course fees at IMI can be quite high. If you have a good rank in the IMUCET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) and a decent board percentage, obtaining a loan is quite easy. But you must also explore other platforms that offer scholarships. International Maritime University in Chennai also offers scholarships.

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks. Candidates age should be less than 25 years at the start of training. Eyesight should be 6/6 (with or without external aids), and no color blindness. Admissions to B.Tech. are based on merit in the IMU CET exam, followed by counseling. For B.Tech. (Lateral Entry), candidates are selected based on performance in the Pre Screening Test (PST) and an interview.
