Hello Harshan,
Fundamentally, the exam pattern tests the ability of the student to us logical thinking and use of applicability of concepts to solve questions. Hence, learning by heart is simply not the solution but learning and understanding concepts is. But firstly, believe in yourself. Remember "where there is will, there is way"! Start studying immediately with time given to all subjects everyday. Only hard work will help you. Minimum marks are basically called the cutoff marks, which is different for all category. Cutoff is high for the general category. Generally it is nearly 100, last year the cut off was very low comparatively previous years that is 81 for JEE main. For this year I can't tell you since the result is not release yet. It will be going to release on 30th April and the key will be released by 24th April. So, you are going to find your answer when the result will be released.

If your son want to good marks in JEE Advance, firstly he will have to qualify JEE Mains exam. For this exam, you have the basics and deepl knowledge of class 11th and class 12th Math Physics and Chemistry. You can also join the test series of any coaching classes for more questions. Good luck.

For JEE Main Paper 2, around 2 lakhs candidates appear in the Exam for seeking career in the Architecture field. Last year the JEE Main Paper 2 Cutoff was as follows
General -81 Marks
OBC -49 Marks
SC-32 Marks
ST-27 Marks

The JEE Main Exam is held in the Offline mode on 8th April whereas the JEE Advanced is going to be held on 15 & 16 April 2018
The JEE Main Exam cutoff for last year was as follows
General -81 Marks
OBC -49 Marks
SC-32 Marks
ST-27 Marks
