Hello Prahalad,
No, you should not spend 2 years for IIT after class 12th. Many students spend only a maximum of 1 year and that too only if they have the confidence of getting into IIT by doing hard work. Also, you need to answer the question, why did you spend a year after class 12th? When the companies come for placements, they always look for the continuity in studies.
So, choose wisely. If you can get admission in IIT then drop 1 year, if you cant then don't waste time as many have failed in JEE Advanced even after spending a year.

Your AIR will give better idea of college than marks. According to this year cutoff, 136 is really good marks and you can get state level college with nice branch. Getting a seat in good NIT's is a bit difficult if you belong to general category.
Cut off of JEE Advance is going to be a bit high because maximum marks were high for general category people.

We cannot say anything about the cut off now as per the last year the cut off for gen candidate was 75 (approx.). For SC, ST candidates it was about 38 and so on, this year everyone is saying about increase in cut off but it can decrease.

JEE Advanced Cutoff 2017is the minimum marks that a candidate has to secure to be eligible for getting admission to undergraduate engineering programmes offered across Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian School of Mining (ISM) Dhanbad. IIT Madras, the organizing institute for JEE Advanced 2017, has announced the minimum marks prescribed for inclusion in the rank list in the brochure. This is the JEE Advanced Cutoff 2017 for qualifying the exam. The admission cutoff is different from the qualifying cutoff. Candidates will be able to know the JEE Advanced Cutoff for admissions only during the counseling.

Hello Jagdish,
You just qualified advance then it quite tough to get IITs but if you scored 75% in boards and your JEE Mains marks are good then you get NITs.
