No, you should not spend 2 years for IIT after class 12th. Many students spend only a maximum of 1 year and that too only if they have the confidence of getting into IIT by doing hard work. Also, you need to answer the question, why did you spend a year after class 12th? When the companies come for placements, they always look for the continuity in studies.
So, choose wisely. If you can get admission in IIT then drop 1 year, if you cant then don't waste time as many have failed in JEE Advanced even after spending a year.

Cut off of JEE Advance is going to be a bit high because maximum marks were high for general category people.

You just qualified advance then it quite tough to get IITs but if you scored 75% in boards and your JEE Mains marks are good then you get NITs.
