JEE Main Syllabus

The JEE Main 2026 Chemistry syllabus is based on the Class 11 and 12 NCERT syllabi, with some topics removed in 2024. It is divided into three sections: Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.

-Physical Chemistry includes concepts such as matter, stoichiometry, atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, solutions, equilibrium, redox reactions, and chemical kinetics.

-Inorganic Chemistry covers periodic trends, p-Block elements, d- and f-Block elements, and coordination compounds.

-Organic Chemistry focuses on purification and characterization of compounds, basic principles, hydrocarbons, organic compounds with halogens, oxygen, and nitrogen, biomolecules, and practical chemistry principles.

There is no determined weightage of chapters or topics of Class 11th and 12th, however some topics are definitely weighted higher than other. Those are listed below:

Physics: Work, Energy, and Power Current Electricity, Heat, Work, and Internal Energy Conductors, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body Magnetic effects of current & Magnetism AC Generator & Transformer Concept of Magnetic Field Permanent Magnets, Kinematics, Electric Charges & their Conservation, Electric Dipole, Work, Energy, and Power, Current Electricity, Heat, Work, and Internal Energy, Conductors. 

Chemistry: Nomenclature of Organic Compounds, Organic Compounds, Hydrocarbons, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohol, Phenols and Ether, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids, Equilibrium, Chemical Equilibrium, Ionic Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, Transition Elements (d and f Block Elements), S - Block and P - Block Elements, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Valence Bond Theory, Molecular Orbital Theory, Hybridisation of Orbitals, Thermodynamics, Laws of Thermodynamics, Hess’s Law, Gibbs Free Energy, Relation between Cp and Cv, Enthalpy and Entropy, Coordination Compounds, Biomolecules. 

•Mathematics : Algebra, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Linear Inequalities, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Sequence and Series, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometry and Inverse Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, Straight Lines, Conic Sections - Circle, Parabola, Ellipse and Hyperbola, Section Formula and Distance Formula, Differential Calculus, Differentiability and Differentiation, Rate of Change, Maxima and Minima, Tangents and Normals, Increasing or Decreasing Functions, Integral Calculus, Indefinite and Definite Integrals, Area Under the Curves.
