JEE (Joint Entrance Examination is not a mandatory requirement for admission at NUS. However, exceptional scores do give a positive remark of a student's resume.
Applications without JEE scores are also considered for general applications by the university.

I totally get your concern! Not everyone gets into IITs or NITs, but that doesn't mean you can't have a great engineering career. If you're looking for a good college with an affordable fee structure and decent placements, Chandigarh University (CU) is worth considering.
CU offers various scholarships based on JEE Mains, board exams, and CU's own entrance test (CUCET), which can significantly reduce your tuition fees. The university provides industry-aligned engineering programs with collaborations with top companies like IBM, Google, and Microsoft. It also has ABET and NBA accreditation, ensuring quality education.
