Currently, it has been ranked second after IIT Kharagpur in the NIRF Rankings for Innovation, and these two institutions are the only ones in the state to get that ranking. To go to engineering college, you should have science background as it would be the basics but if you are so interested you can clear the entrance and get good colleges for which you would have to study basics of science again.

Yes you can get B.Tech IT in JIS College of Engineering if securing rank under 55000. The WBJEE ranks below 75000 can be good enough for getting JIS College of Engineering in asked branch for general category.
