Yes, CGPA does matter to some extent because many companies visiting LPU keep minimum academic criteria for shortlisting candidates. A good CGPA can help you become eligible for more placement opportunities and create a positive first impression.
That said, CGPA alone doesn't guarantee a great job. Recruiters also focus heavily on coding skills, internships, projects, communication, aptitude, and interview performance. I've seen students with strong practical skills perform exceptionally well even in highly competitive placement drives.
A decent CGPA while continuously building industry-relevant skills. At LPU, students get access to wor

In my opinion, LPU has a decent placement in mechanical engineering, especially if you are serious about building your skills. The university invite companies from corely mechanical, manufacturing, automobile, and engineering sector. Even with good opportunity in IT and analytics students who want to explore those fields along with placements, LPU also focuses on internship, industrial projects, dissertation. And with the student placement ready, they offer fab classes to the student to prepare well for the placement. And if the student will stay consistent with academics and practical skills, then definitely LPU provides a good platfo

The salary after placement depends on your course, skills, and the company you join. LPU students receive offers from 4LPA to 250LPA. JEE is not compulsory. You can also try through LPUNEST or other accepted entrance exams, depending on the program. For most courses, you'll generally need at least 60% aggregate marks in Class 12.

Yes, CSBS students can sit for many software developer roles during placements at LPU. The curriculum includes programming, data structures, databases, AI basics, and business subjects, so students get exposure to both technical and management areas. Eligibility usually depends on company requirements, coding skills, CGPA, and interview performance. Some companies may prefer pure CSE students for highly specialized roles, but many recruiters allow CSBS students for software development, analytics, consulting, and product-based profiles as well.

From a student's point of view, the placement record of LPU is quite good, especially for branches like CSE. Every year, a large number of companies visit the campus, including top recruiters like Microsoft, Amazon, Cognizant, Capgemini, and Tech Mahindra, so opportunities are definitely there. What I've seen is that LPU focuses a lot on placement preparation through aptitude, coding, and soft skills training, which really helps students perform well. The highest packages can go quite high for top performers, while average packages are decent for most students. There are also internship and training opportunities that improve your chan

For good placement opportunities, most core and higher‑paying companies at LPU generally expect a CGPA of around 7.0 or above, with many mass‑recruiters sitting at 6.0–6.5 as their cutoff. Some top‑tier and multinational firms prefer candidates with 8.0+ to stay competitive in shortlists. Beyond CGPA, strong technical skills, communication, and active participation in training and projects also significantly influence how good a package a student can secure.
