United States- You will have to clear the USMLE exams ( especially step 1, step 2ck and cs) in order to qualify participating in the match programme which is done every year to match candidates into residency positions across the country. Residency positions (which is a term used synonymously with post graduation) in the US are very competitive and IMGs (i.e. international medical graduates) are usually picked for only a few specialities such as internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry and family medicine, which are considered less conpetitive. The highly competitive branches such as General surgery, obstretrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ent, etc. are tough to get but not impossible. You require tremendously high scores and a good profile to even be considered for the highly competitive residencies.

United Kingdom- You will need to clear the PLAB exam, which is divided into 2 parts, a theory exam which is based on multiple choice questions and a practical exam which tests your clinical skills. However, you will be required to work as an intern for 2 years in the UK, where you will be posted in various departments. After that, you can pick a speciality of your choice and that requires a further three years to complete.
