Step‑by‑Step: Counselling & Seat Allocation

Qualify the Entrance Exam — NIPER JEE

• You must first appear in and qualify the NIPER Joint Entrance Examination (NIPER JEE), which is the national entrance test for postgraduate pharmacy programmes (including MS Pharma) across all NIPER institutes.

• Your performance in this exam determines your merit rank on the counselling list.

Merit List Publication

• After results are declared, NIPER releases a merit list based on scores obtained in NIPER JEE. Only candidates on this list are eligible for counselling.

• Then you must pay the admission/tuition fee to confirm your seat. Failure to pay within the stipulated deadline typically results in the seat being forfeited.

Multiple Rounds & Vacancies

• Typically, counselling and seat allotment may happen in multiple rounds:

  • First round chooses from top merit candidates.

  • If seats remain vacant, subsequent rounds of counselling fill them.

  • Sometimes, supernumerary seats (for Government‑sponsored, Foreign Nationals, OCI/PIO, PwBD, etc.) are also filled in additional stages.

1. Your NIPER JEE Rank

The counseling is strictly merit-based. Students with higher ranks (lower numbers) get the first pick. If the seats in a popular branch like Pharmaceutics or Pharmacology are filled by candidates with better ranks than yours, you will have to choose from the remaining available options.

2. Qualifying Degree Eligibility

Not all undergraduate degrees qualify for every MS (Pharm) specialization. NIPER has strict "Discipline-wise Eligibility." For example:

PHARMACEUTICS/ PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS - B.PHARM DEGREE

BIOTECHNOLOGY -  ACCEPT B.PHARM or B.Tech (BIOTECH)

MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY- B.PHARM or M.Sc (ORGANIC CHEMISTRY)

3. Specializations Available at NIPER Ahmedabad
