There can be two primary reasons for it. First - College placement team didn't worked properly to co-ordinate with various companies to call them to campus for recruitment or they didn't communicated well. Second - Companies may come for placement but they didn't find any good candidate according to their need. Companies hire candidates on the basis of knowledge & skills they are searching for.

If you want to take admission in good college like IIT, NIT, iiit or in gfti then give GATE exam. For private colleges, GATE or their own entrance exams. In some colleges, directly on the basis of graduation marks take admission.

Glad that you're interested in learning more about one of the most booming and career promising fields in the current time, which is Data Science or Big Data. As these are quite popular and demanding among a lot of students and the other professionals in terms of learning and making a good career in it.
Coming back to your query, there are many platforms that you can consider for learning Data Science or Big Data, but very few of them proved worthy in terms of placement assistance!
