At D. Y. Patil College of Engineering and Technology, the best course is engineering in CSE. It is a very good course according to me. You can do so according to your area of interest but CSE is the best branch for the future also and for getting placements also. The "best" course at the college would depend on your individual interests, career goals, and the current industry trends.

Generally students don't fail internal exams in VIT Pune as the teaching staff is supportive and the students manage to do well in internal exams. But if someone fails then re-exam is taken for those students. You just have to fill the back paper form. Back paper form can be filled by both the students who have failed exams or they have missed the exams some how.

VIT has a good intake of students, so the student strength is around 10-12k and the majority of the strength is of B.Tech students. More than half of the intake is for B.Tech students only at VIT Pune. You will meet many students from parts of India.
