Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, is a self-financing higher educational institution that started its operations in 1953 by establishing the first self-financing medical college as Public Private collaboration model. The basic eligibility requirement is BCA/ BSc Computer Science/ IT from a recognised institute with 50% aggregate marks. The university provides direct admissions to the course based on merit. Foreign/ NRI category candidates are also admitted to the course after fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

This course is offered in two streams of Science and Management. Admission to MIT Pune MCA course is entrance-based. Students need to qualify for either MAH MCA CET, which is a state-level entrance exam in Maharashtra. Another option is to qualify for MIT-WPU CET, which is an in-house entrance exam of MIT-WPU.
