To start a career in films and media is very broad based and vast. Students need to be very clear about film and media as a line of work. It is not all glittery, bright and glamor. Both the institutes are good in their own ways. But considering your choice, Journalism, I would suggest AAFT. They have BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, which is more journalism centric.
Whereas the course SXCKOL offers is mass communication-centric and journalism, as you know, is a part of mass communication.
I would suggest you visit the websites of the institues and look at the syllabus. Then you decide.

There is a placement cell in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. If you register there, you can opt for placement facility.
Students of this course can register there.
So yes, you can have placement. I would suggest you to look at previous answers of questions related to placements and also visit the placement cell page on the website and Facebook.
