Once you have done M.Sc and Ph.D in mathematics, you will be fully knowledgeable and there would be no difference between you and others who may have done this after BA or B.Sc in maths.

There are four hostels for the students of IIT Bhubaneswar. They are:
- Subarnarekha Hall of Residence: Girls Hostel
- Mahanadi Hall of Residence, Brahmaputra Hall of Residence and Subarnarekha Hall of Residence: Boys Hostel
All hostels have gym facilities and they are all filled with general amenities.
- Hostels have courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
- Each room is provided with essential amenities, such as a study table, chair and a cupboard.
- The hostel has 24*7 Internet facilities through LAN and Wi-Fi.
- Common rooms have a small library (other than academics) and lab for using high-speed internet.

There are primarily two hostels for 1st year students- Hostel-1 and Hostel-2. Hostel-1 has a decent infrastructure. It has a good lawn. It has washing machines. The mess food is above average. You also get snacks. If you can cooperate with mess workers you can cook chicken in the mess. You have a TV room and a TT table also inside the hostel. But there is neither LAN connection nor Wi-Fi in H-1.
Also, the hostel timings used to be very restrictive for 1st year students until you get your fresher party. Hostel-2 has a similar infrastructure as Hostel-1. But it has an added advantage of LAN facility.
