You can crack CAT with 10 month preparation effort along with college studies. You have to draft a prepration plan based on your strengths and weaknesses. If you work based on plan chances of success are very high.

Dear Viswas, there is no fixed for it. It changes year to year. This year highest marks 97 for 100 that will be calculated for 100 percentile. Next year if one get 93 highest marks. that will be rounded up to 100. So, it depends on relative marks. All the best.

The level of mathematics used for CAT isn't that high. The logical thinking is what is mainly targeted and hence you should be much worried about that.

Althought most colleges accept CAT score but there are few very prestigious colleges which have their own exams like Narsee Monjee Mumbai, XLRI etc.
Also taking multiple exams reduces the risk just in case you mess up in CAT. You must register for XAT, SNAP etc.
