Several NMAT participating colleges require sectional cutoffs to shortlist candidates for admission. While shortlisting candidates for selection rounds such as GD, and PI, NMAT participating colleges will release overall as well as sectional cutoff scores.

NMAT cut off score is the minimum score or marks required for shortlisting the candidate for admission or admission rounds. In simple words mean, the cutoff scores help in the screening process by which candidates can be shortlisted for further selection rounds, including the Group Discussion (GD)/Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview. The cut-offs list is determined by each participating college; therefore the minimum marks/ percentage required to for selection differs across different participating institutes.

NMAT participating institutes decide the cutoff scores for admission and to shortlist candidates for admission rounds. Several factors, including the previous year's cutoff scores, total applicants, total seats, candidate's performance, among other factors helps in deciding the cutoff scores.

Typically, the participating institute shall decide the NMAT cutoff marks based on the number of seats, total applicants, and previous year's cutoff scores. Panjab University cutoff for MBA course is based on CAT scores. Candidates who wish to apply for Panjab University admissions to MBA course, must have a valid scores in CAT exam. Candidates must also meet the overall as well as the sectional CAT cutoff. Going as per the past year trends, the overall Panjab University MBA cutoff has been consistent at 85 percentile, whereas for sectional cutoff it is 50 percentile each for General category students. Chandigarh University offers MBA and MBA Human Resource through UBS Chandigarh. For MBA HR, candidates must have 85 percentile each for overall as well as sectional cutoffs.

Apeejay Stya University offers MBA course in dual specialisation for a duration of two years. For the admission procedure candidates have to fulfill the eligibilty citeria i.e. Bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate, more than 50 % in competitive exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, etc. and 60 % in ASU-CAT [university’s common admission test]. The selection of the candidate is subject to Group Discussion and Panel interview. So, yes CAT is required for MBA in Apeejay Stya University.
