CAP stands for "Centralized Admission Process."
DTE begins CAP rounds for admission after the CET results, which are usually released in May. You can look at the 2021 schedule to get a rough idea of how it will be in 2022. State CET Cell, Government of Maharashtra.
There were 4 rounds last year. After completing every round, a list of remaining vacant seats in an institute or college is prepared, which helps students decide. With the preferences given by the students, they have 3 options.
During the CAP, after allotment and before accepting the allotted seat in Round 1 and Round 2, a candidate can select the choice of "freezing," "sliding," or "floating" for the subsequent round, if any, of seat allocation, as provided below.
(a) Freeze: Students accept the offered seat and do not want to participate in any further rounds of seat allocation. Such students will not be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.
(b) Slide: Students accept the offered seat and indicate that, if admission to the academic program of higher preference is offered within the same institution, they will accept it. Such students will be considered in the following rounds of admission.
(c) Float: Students accept the offered seat and indicate that, if admission to an academic program of higher preference in any institution is offered, they will accept it. If they do not accept, they will continue with the currently accepted academic program. Such students will be considered in the following rounds of admission.
The students should select the reporting option as "freeze," "slide," or "float" through their login. If the candidate gets a better choice in CAP Round 2 and Round 3, they may change the reporting option to "freeze," "slide," or "float" through their login; otherwise, the earlier option will be carried forward. For candidates who choose the float or slide option and secure a seat of their choice with a higher preference, it would automatically result in the forfeiture of the seat accepted by the students in the earlier round. Slide and float options will not be available to a Student who is offered admission to his first choice.
So, you just have to focus on the written test and try to get a good score in the MH CET exam. Wait for the official notification of CAP rounds after the CET result.

Non-CAP seats are the ones that are allotted internally by the institute and the Directorate Of Technical Education is not involved in the allotment of any of the seats falling in this category. Cutoffs for Non-CAP seats are decided by the college and a college-specific application form is required to get into the admission process. After that, a merit list is published and seats are allotted on the basis of merit. Your acknowledgment form after admission explicitly mentions the type of admission and thus you might miss out on some scholarships/schemes by the government as many of them are only for candidates who have undergone the CAP.
