MBBS Eligibility

The Eligibility criteria for MBBS at Medical college of Kolkata is pretty much similar to other goverment medical colleges. The MBBS course seats are allotted on the basis of NEET-UG score and rank. Therefore, the candidates will have to apply for the NEET-UG examination conducted by the NTA for the admissions for MBBS. After the NEET-UG results, the cutoff is released by the MCC or the Medical counselling committee based on various factors. Candidates who cleared the cutoff marks set by the college will be called for the admissions process. The cutoff differs each year. The candidates must have also secured a minimum of 50% in Physics, chemistry, biology and English in their class 10 and 12 examination. The cutoff scores depends on the individual candidates as they vary for each categories. Without qualifying for the NEET cutoff it is not possible t get admissions to any MBBS colleges in India. It is difficult to get admissions to top government medical college which are below 500 to 600. 

The Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences' requirements for MBBS eligibility.The candidate must have received at least a 50% in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology on the 10+2 exam or any other exam that is comparable. Candidates for the SC, ST, and OB categories must receive 40% in each of the subjects from their 10+2 exams or any other exams that are comparable, and students with physical disabilities in the general category must receive at least 45% in the aforementioned subjects.Since 85% of the seats are filled by UP MBBS admissions, the candidate must be an Uttar Pradesh resident or have qualified for the state's 10+2 exams.The applicant needs to have registered for the counselling sessions and taken the NEET entrance exam.

For admission to the MBBS programme at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. NEET UG Examination: Aspiring candidates need to clear the NEET UG examination, which is a prerequisite for MBBS admissions.

2. Age and Educational Qualification: Candidates should be at least 17 years old and have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A minimum aggregate of 50% in the qualifying examination is required.

3. Admission Process: The admission process involves centralized NEET Counselling for 15% of seats through the All India Quota, conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee. The remaining 85% of seats are filled through State level Punjab NEET-UG Counselling organized by BFUHS.

4. Course Fees: The cost for pursuing the BFUHS MBBS course is INR 174,000 for the first year in government colleges and INR 405,825 in the first year in private colleges.

United States- You will have to clear the USMLE exams ( especially step 1, step 2ck and cs) in order to qualify participating in the match programme which is done every year to match candidates into residency positions across the country. Residency positions (which is a term used synonymously with post graduation) in the US are very competitive and IMGs (i.e. international medical graduates) are usually picked for only a few specialities such as internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry and family medicine, which are considered less conpetitive. The highly competitive branches such as General surgery, obstretrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ent, etc. are tough to get but not impossible. You require tremendously high scores and a good profile to even be considered for the highly competitive residencies.

United Kingdom- You will need to clear the PLAB exam, which is divided into 2 parts, a theory exam which is based on multiple choice questions and a practical exam which tests your clinical skills. However, you will be required to work as an intern for 2 years in the UK, where you will be posted in various departments. After that, you can pick a speciality of your choice and that requires a further three years to complete. Similar to the US, highly competitve specialities are a little tougher to get for non Uk citizens.
