Yes, it is mandatory for Indian students to pay for the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) to obtain an Australian student visa for the entire duration of studies.

Monash arranges the same via Allianz Care Australia. Students can buy one by themselves if they wish to. An OSHC costs around AUD 500 to AUD 600 (INR 33 K to INR 39.7 K) per year.

1 AUD = INR 66.21

No, Indian students should not have the impression that Monash University offers admissions to more students than the University of Melbourne.

In fact, the UMel acceptance rate is almost double that of Monash. When this rate for Monash is standing at only 40%, the Melbourne University admission rate is 70% making it easier for applicants to get in.

Yes, US World and News is one of top ranking bodies of the world and these rankings are generally considered to be quite accurate

This is because it uses ranking parameters like -

  • Student-faculty ratio
  • Peer assessments
  • Standardized test scores
  • Graduation rates
  • First-year retention rates

Monash University ranks at #38 under the Global Universities in 2025 rankings. It is a decline in the rankings from what it was in the last year.
