The seat intake for the B. Des course through NID Entrance Exam is 425. For M.Des course, 347 seats are available for admission at NID campuses. Apart from this number, some seats are also reserved for overseas (supernumerary) candidates. Admission to the B. Des programme at the NIDs will be on the basis of NID that 2023 merit rank and college option opted by the candidate. Meanwhile, M.Des candidates aren't required to select colleges.

National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad provides hostels to all out-stationed BDes students. Hostel accommodation is allocated only for a year and students have to apply for reallocation every year. Subscription to mess facilities is compulsory for all hostel residents. Local students cannot apply for hostel accommodation.
