No, NYFA USA does not feature in the academic rankings given by platforms like QS World or THE. This is because, these platforms evaluate and rank research-heavy universities globally.
NYFA is a specialized, for profit-college which focuses entirely on hands-on visual and performing arts. The institute is instead rated by top media platforms such as Variety, Backstage, TheWrap, and Princeton Review.

Yes, most courses, particularly degree programs, at NYFA require students to submit a portfolio or an audition tape to demonstrate readiness for college-level studies.
Performing Arts programs require students to complete an audition round. Creative and Visual Arts programs, however, ask students to submit a creative portfolio.
However, NYFA short-term workshops often have open enrolment and do not require an audition or portfolio.

No prior filmmaking experience is required to study at NYFA. The academy uses an intensive, learn-by-doing approach to help beginners. All short-term workshops, certificates, and foundational degree courses start from scratch.
This allows all students to gain the required technical skills and experience on-set to build a strong portfolio.
