The decision of joining a coaching institute totally depends on your individual learning style, time constraints, and budget. However, if you join a coaching institute for the NIFT entrance it can be beneficial as  you can have a structured curriculum and study plan with Expert guidance. Regular practice tests can help you prepare well. However, Coaching institutes can be expensive and attending classes can be time-consuming.

No, there is no negative marking in the NIFT entrance exam. Candidates are only penalized for incorrect answers if the question has multiple answers or if it's a descriptive question. The exam assesses creative and analytical skills through a variety of question types, including multiple-choice and sketch-based questions. Yes, candidates belonging to the SC, and other reserved categories will be considered for admission under both the respective and open categories.

Considering you belong to the SC category, this means you will be considered for open and SC admission lists. If you meet the cut-off in any of these lists, you will get admission.

But the institute you are being allocated will depend on the course you have selected (and their order of priority) at the time of choice-filling. Note that if you are not offered the first preferred seat, you are typically considered for upgradation in subsequent rounds.
