For, Engineering courses, students need to qualify GATE exam and for non-Engineering courses, students need to qualify for the NET exam. However, one needs to be a graduate or post-graduate in a relevant stream.
- For Engineering specialisations, candidates must have completed their PG degree in Engineering/ Technology with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale or 60% aggregate in the qualifying exam or have a bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology in a relevant area with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 or 70% aggregate and with a valid GATE score
- For Science specialisations, candidates must have completed their PG degree in Physics/ Chemist

NIT Mizoram offers a wide range if undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level programmes in the field of Engineering, Technology, Arts and Science. The BTech programme offered at the UG level is available in five specialisations, M.Tech is offered across four specialisations and the PhD course is available through nine departments of the institute.
