Considering the NIT Mizoram BTech cutoff 2025, the top three specialisations that have cutthroat competition among the General AI category students are B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing, B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering and B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering, with closing ranks of 66692, 74136 and 84971, respectively.

For most students, NIT Agartala's Electrical Engineering (EE) programme is likely the better choice over NIT Mizoram's Computer Science Engineering (CSE). While both are reputable NITs, NIT Agartala has a longer history, stronger placements, and a more established infrastructure, which are crucial for a well-rounded college experience and future career prospects.

The maximum rank required for admission at NIT Mizoram would depend on the category, branch and round. For the General AI category, the round 1 cutoff ranged from 27320 to 51417, wherein BTech Mathematics and Computing was the toughest branch for admission. Hence, students need to attain a rank of at least 51417 to be considered qualified for admission.

Yes, you can get admisson at NIT Mizoram with a rank of 50000 if you belong to the General AI category (but only to a few BTech specialisations). For the NIT Mizoram cutoff 2026, the round 1 cutoff ranged from 27320 to 51417. As per this range only one branch can be availed, ie., BTech in Civil Engineering, with the round 1 cutoff of 51417.
On the other hand, for the General HS category, all available branches can be availed in the first round. See the table below to know the NIT Mizoram branch-wise cutoff 2026.

NIT Mizoram cutoff 2026 has been released for admission to the BTech course branches for various All India and Home State quota categories. The cutoff was published for the first round on the basis of the JEE Main entrance exam, followed by the counselling process.
For the General AI category, the cutoff ranged from 27320 to 51417. Students can see the table below to know the round 1 cutoff range for all other AI and HS quota categories.

You can get CSE in GFTI as per the JoSSA counselling cutoff last year. You cannot get any branch, like CSE, ECE in NIT at this rank.

Yes, NIT Mizoram offers various scholarships to economically backward and deserving students. They are government scholarships, state government scholarships, and category-wise scholarships for SC/ST/OBC students. Such students are eligible to apply on the National Scholarship Portal or on the concerned state government portals. The institute also nominates students for some scholarships on the basis of merit and economic factors.

During NIT Mizoram placements 2025, 100% placements was recorded in EE and ME branch. Placement rate recorded in CSE, ECE and CE branch was 96.7%, 96.4% and 92.9%.

The placement rate recorded during NIT Mizoram placements 2025 was 97.1%. In 2024, percentage of students placed was 86%. In EE and ME branch, 100% placements was recorded.
