NIT Srinagar - National Institute of Technology

The major problem with CS/IT in NIT Srinagar is the abundance of unreliable, under qualified faculty members, most of whom have graduated and/or postgraduate from substandard colleges. So join ONLY if you are willing to submit to 4 years of self study because no matter how poor the quality of the classes is, the question papers are always of a high standard. Coming to infra, all you need for these branches is a well-equipped desktop and yes, NIT Srinagar has a lot of those but like I said, it all burns down to self study and you cannot rely on the teachers, not even in case of labs (especially not in case of labs). The schedule is moderately hectic and eases out after 6th semester. The placements are good, of the level of other NITs. The placements in our batch (2012) were 100% and more than half of the class was doubly placed. The highest package offered was 6.75 LPA by Samsung Research Institute, Noida, which is pretty decent for IT/CS. All in all, NIT Srinagar is a nice place to be in. The location of the college is breathtaking, and the quality of students is really good. No matter what, this place is bound to give you the most memorable years of your life.
