NIT Trichy - National Institute of Technology

NIT Trichy offers a full-time two-year MBA course via its Department of Management Studies. NIT Trichy is the only institute among other NITs, which is funded by the Ministry of HRD. As per observing the ranking trends for the Management category course offered at NIT Trichy, it was 39 in the year 2022, whereas it improved in the year 2023 and ranked 35 by NIRF. NIT Trichy offers MBA course across seven specialisations. These are Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance, Production and Operations, Business Analytics, Information systems and IT Consulting and General Management. All the MBA courses are offered in full-time mode through DOMS NIT Trichy. The admission process for all MBA specialisations are same. Candidates willing for admission to MBA at NIT Trichy must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria and qualify for CAT entrance exam.

As per the unofficial sources, the total seat intake for a three-year MCA course at NIT Trichy is 115. These seats are filled via NIMCET exam. To secure a seat to MCA course at NIT Trichy, candidates must qualify for NIMCET. Candidates who qualify for NIMCET are called for a centralised counselling process. The qualified candidates are offered seats as per their rankings. 

To join a three-year MCA course at NIT Trichy, candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements of the course as stated on the official website of NIT. To pursue this full-time PG-level course at NIT Trichy, candidates are required to pass graduation with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics as one of the subjects. Candidates must have obtained minimum 60% aggregate in the final examination of graduation. Candidates who are appearing for the final examinations of graduation are also eligible to apply. 

NIT Trichy is not a very expensive university as it is a government university so the fee is not very high. Even if the students find the fee very high, they can apply for scholarships provided by the university. Free or not, scholarships can really help the students in completing education from NIT Trichy at affordable cost. Some of the scholarships provided by the university are Adi-Dravidar Scholarship -Tamil, Adi-Dravidar Scholarship -English, SC/ST Scholarship, BC Scholarship, and others.

The starting salary of students graduated from NIT Trichy differs and depends on their overall academic records. In general, the median package offered to NIT Trichy UG 4 years programme students in 2022 was INR 12 LPA. The highest package offered to students in 2022 was INR 40 LPA.

This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

NIT Trichy will release 7-8 rounds of JEE Main cutoffs for admission to BTech. The cutoffs will be released on a rolling basis, and the seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The cutoffs will be based on the following factors:

The JEE Main score of the candidate
The category of the candidate
The number of seats available in the course

Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For JEE Main Round 6 cutoff 2023, the opening rank was 1147 and closing rank was 1509 for the general category candidates under All India quota. Cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 2086 and 2086. Admission to Computer Science Engineering in NIT Trichy is based on the scores obtained in the JEE Main entrance exam. Applicants are advised to confirm what category are they applying while checking for cut offs.
