To be eligible for financial aid at K J Somaiya Polytechnic College or at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria: family income below INR 800,000 per annum, status as a Person with Disabilities (PwD), being a ward of defense personnel disabled or deceased in the line of duty, or having represented the state or country in a recognised sport (for BSc Sports and Exercise Science applicants only).

K J Somaiya Polytechnic College provides financial assistance to students through Somaiya Vidyavihar University scholarships. To secure a Somaiya Scholarship, candidates must be eligible through either of the following categories of merit-cum need based, need based or benevolent scholarships:
