NIT's are some of best colleges in India. In case you cannot go for a higher rank NIT, then going for NIT Jalandhar is really good choice.

Of course NIT's are better as they are government institutions. Thapar University and VIT Vellore are private institutions. No doubt they have a good reputation specially VIT Vellore but I would suggest to go for NIT Jalandhar.

Yes, you are eligible for admission in PEC.
PEC conducts a test every year to take admission in that college.
Hurry up, you have to visit PEC for admission.

Faculty- Some teachers are really good and helping while others are just to spend their time. The classes are regular and you will learn a lot from it. Few teachers go out of their way and help students.
Infrastructure- Well maintained labs are worth mentioning here. You get nice PC's in the lab and an unlimited internet connection of 50 mbps. Classes are airy and you spend good time in it.
Placements- Just an average college, regular recruiters are TCS and Infosys with a pay package of 3.25 lac. A student of our college bagged a placement of 18 lacs from Sociogenic, Pune. I still have some high hopes.
