San Jose State University does not require GRE scores for admission to some programs, such as the MS Software Engineering, for students with a degree from an ABET-accredited institution. However, GRE scores are required for applicants from other universities. For those submitting GRE scores, the minimum requirements are typically a combined Quantitative and Verbal score of 294 or higher, and an Analytical Writing score of at least 3.0. These scores must come from a single test date and will be considered a critical factor in the evaluation process.

San Jose State University acceptance rate stands at 79%, which makes it a moderately selective university to get into. In comparison with the San Diego State University acceptance rate of 39%, SJSU can be considered less selective in its admission criteria.

Nonetheless, getting into San Jose State Uni is competitive. Hence, students must excel in academics in order to boost their chances. Apart from this, students who are outstanding in activities outside class also stand a good chance of securing admission.
