Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology has identified the necessity of aiding the less fortunate by giving them a concession in the qualifying criteria. The minimum eligibility condition for a general category student has been fixed at 60% of the aggregate of the bachelor's degree.

Whereas for the students of the SC/ST/EWS category, the university extends a 5% relaxation in the minimum marking requirement. Therefore the students of the above-mentioned categories can apply if they have attained an aggregate of at least 55% of the marks in the bachelor's degree.

For the academic year 2025-26, the SVNIT Surat hostel fees ranged between INR 39,160 and INR 55,080. SVNIT Surat provides M.Tech specialisation in a wide range of core branches of engineering starting with Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Science etc. Every branch is designed to have higher studies together with research possibilities. One will select the branch position in accordance to the qualifying degree and GATE paper of the candidate. The admissions will be made on availability and merit.

The candidates to participate on the M.Tech programme at SVNIT Surat should have a degree of BE/BTech/B.Arch. They must obtain a minimum of 60 papers or 6.5 CGPA. The reserve to 55 or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD students. All categories are required to have a valid GATE score.
