A candidate who has passed an examination of the Board may reappear for improvement of performance in one or more subjects in the succeeding year only. So failed candidates are not eligible for improvement exam. However you can appear in compartment exam in the same year in the subject in which you get failed.

Two years of gap does not matter in B.Sc. For government jobs and higher studies point of view. However change in stream can be an issue if Mathematics not studied at 10+2 level.
