The basic difference between M.Tech (M.E) and M. S. is that M.Tech is a course centric programme focused mainly toward Industries and M. S is a research centric programme.
1. First and foremost, admission to an M.Tech programme depends on the candidate GATE score and in some case Institutes Internal tests, whereas, admission to an M. S. programme depends on the score of the entrance exam as well as the interview round.
2. In M.Tech, the student is trained to work in an industry as well as take up some research work. As far as M. S. is concerned, the students are trained to take up a career in research in an industry or academia.
3. Another important difference between M.Tech and M. S. programme is the duration of the course. The M.Tech has a course duration of strictly 2 years, after which the students get there degree. However, the course duration of M. S. can extend even up to 3 or 4 years, depending on the status of the project. The M.
