The placement scenario varies from year to year especially in chemical engineering of Haldia Institute of Technology.
In 2017, various core companies recruited students from HIT like Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd., Adani Wilmar, Topchem Cement, Praxair, Wacker, S.G Biogas, IR Chemicals, Oriental Nicco, Chemtex, Voith Paper, Sanmar, and Almal.
Many IT companies mass recruited chemical engineers like Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, etc.

SVNIT is amongst the top 10 NITs of India and also one of the oldest technical institutes. It was established in 1961 with just 3-4 branches and mechanical was one amongst them.
So, being among the oldest institutes and one of the oldest core branches, the department is well settled and well equipped with the required necessary labs also a no. of new labs have been constructed which will mostly start in this academic year. Being situated at the most premium location of the corporates in India, it gets a benefit of attracting the national and multinational corporates.

10 core companies have visited our campus like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, HPCL, Nestle Etc. and in IT, lots of good companies like Goldman Sachs, Directi, Amazon, Samsung and in non-core, banks and consultancy companies have visited including top players like Bain, Mckinsey, Boston, Axis Bank, IndusInd, HSBC, etc.

Nowadays, most of the ECE engineers are being recruited for IT roles rather than core jobs. If you want to get a job in the core field you have to be extra-ordinary in both academics and extra-curriculars, then only you can stand out from the crowd. For getting into best companies first try to get into well reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, BITS and other CFTIs. Have a decent CGPA of at least 8.5+.
