I wouldn't suggest anybody to go for seeking after M.Des from University Of Petroleum and Energy Studies, because the required environment that a Designing student should get is not present here.

There's no second thought before I write this. Of course, it has to be NID, as it's an institute of national importance. AAFT, on the other hand is a private institute and is known for B.Des as well. NID is best known for design courses, and you will have ample of opportunities after passing out from there. Coming to it's placements, several graduates tend to start their own studio. According to LinkedIn, 377 out of 3500 graduates are Entrepreneurs (Nowhere close to the 60% stat by Sumit Shah, but I hope he can give some source). Popular companies (based on no. B.Des at IITG is very good where every other branch mostly envy the design branch particularly. The reason is their schedule, curriculum, decent packages which is very different from other regular branches.
I dont exactly know the details but heard from other Design mates that their average salary is around 15lakhs! (Cases like people with no placements, very high packages and people opting for higher studies will be present).
Placements: The placements at DoD are on par with the best of departments and institutes. The department has an institute wide best figures of 95+% of placed students, with only 3 of them still searching for opp
