Candidates need to clear class 12 from a recognised board in order to be eligible for the exam. Candidates who are yet to appear for Class 12 exams are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates need to present the documentary evidence of clearing Class 12, as per the official SSC CHSL notification.

The number of SSC CHSL vacancies varies every year. The number of vacancies in the SSC CHSL 2024 exam were 3427 and in SSC CHSL 2021 exam were 6,072, and approximately 4500 vacancies were announced for the SSC CHSL 2022. The SSC CHSL vacancies are the most important component of the exam for two reasons. Firstly, the number of vacancies determines the number of candidates who need to be selected for the Tier-II exam and, consequently, the SSC CHSL cutoff to get these many candidates for the next level.

The SSC CHSL 2026 exam pattern has not been released yet. It will be released on the official portal via notification. In 2025, the exam pattern was not changed. Earlier, the Commission changed the exam pattern for the SSC CHSL exam in 2022 to expedite the recruitment process. SSC CHSL exam is now be conducted in two tiers as mentioned below: Tier 1 and Tier 2. The Tier 1 Examination consists of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. According to the SSC CHSL official notification, applicants must be between the age group of 18 to 27 years to be eligible to apply for the SSC CHSL exam, as per the cutoff date prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The upper age limit for the general category is 27 years, Whereas reserved category candidates are given age relaxation in the upper age limit. The SC/ ST category candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC category candidates et 3 years and PwD category get 10 years relaxation.

The SSC CHSL application form 2023 was released on May 9, 2023, along with the official notification. The SSC CHSL apply online 2023 link was active for around a month. The last date to fill the online form was June 8, 2023. Candidates who want to appear for the exam needed to fill out the SSC CHSL application form and pay the application fee. The last date to pay the fee is June 10.
