International students can apply in two main intakes for Cal State University Los Angeles. These intakes are Fall which starts in August or September months and Spring starting in the month of January. The Cal State Fall intake is the primary intake in which most of the courses begin. However, the deadlines generally depend on campus. International students need to apply before these key deadlines by having all the important documents.

International students are allowed to work 20 hours per week. Many students do part-time jobs. You can earn around 538 Euro by doing several jobs. This money is usually enough to cover your monthly expenses like food and health insurance, but maybe not full rent if you live in expensive city.

It is mostly free but not 100%. In public universities, you pay zero tuition fee, except in Baden-Württemberg state and TUM. However every student must pay a semester contribution of approximately 300 Euro every six months. Also, you need money for living expenses like rent and food, which is not free.
