International students generally need a GPA of around 4.0 on a 4.0 scale. They should be in the top 10% of your class. Not only a good GPA, they would also have to meet the given admission requirements -
- English language proficiency (IELTS or TOEFL)

The TOEFL fees in India is actually INR 18,000. One ETS official website you might see TOEFL iBT registration fees as INR 15,254, but that is only the base price. It does not include GST tax. So when you go for payment, the final TOEFL exam price will be 18,000 rupees.

As per the rankings released by ARWU, for all the past three years, MIT is ranked lower than Harvard University. However, both of these universities are considered really good and their popularity is increasing with each passing year. The acceptance rate for them is also low.

The US World 2026 rankings are published for the National Universities category and the ranking is #2. In the Global Universities category, the U.S. News & World Report has ranked, MIT ranks at #2 in the Global Universities category in 2025 rankings.
In the previous years too, the university ranked at this same position. A few of the university's subjects that rank well are Biology and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Economics and Business, Engineering, Physics, etc.
