Students who demonstrate high academic achievement, talent or leadership skills rather than financial need are considered eligible for merit based scholarships. Note that having a good academic record does not promise you a merit-based scholarship. The decision still lies with the scholarship committee who pick an awardee based on multiple factors.

According to some sources, Zhejiang University has 1 Nobel Laureate. Tsung-Dao Lee is the only Nobel Laureate of Zhejiang University who won a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957 at the age of 30. He won nobel prize for his work on the violation of the parity law in weak interactions.
