For governent jobs, you need to take core branches like civil, mechanical, electrical and ECE engineering because most of the vacancies are based on these exams only. Branches like CSE, it has very less scope in terms of government jobs.

There is no reputed college in India which consider boards marks, since boards marks is also not considerable from this marks. So, JEE is also not very much beneficial for you, if you don't get more than 150 marks. But, as you said, you are searching colleges in Bangalore, Pune and Tamil Nadu, you may apply for exams like COMEDK, MHCET, and some private universities like VIT and SRM. Some of the good colleges in these areas are COEP, VJTI,MIT RVCE, MS RAMIAH, BIT, NIE, VIT VELLORE and SRM.
