The Ex-Service Officers aged between 18 to 42 years while applying are eligible. Candidates need to be a graduate and must be in good health. However, candidates who have served the Regular Army/ Navy/ Air Force/ Police/ GREF/ Para Military and other forces are not permitted to apply.

The Territorial Army (TA) exam pattern includes a written exam, an interview, an SSB, and a medical test. The written exam is divided into two papers, each with 100 multiple-choice questions.
Written exam
Paper 1: Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics
Paper 2: General Knowledge and English
Marking: Each correct answer is worth one mark, and there is a penalty for incorrect answers
Passing score: Candidates must score at least 40% in each paper and 50% overall

You are required to have a No Objection Certificate (NOC) if you already work in a government or public sector organization. An NOC simply ensures that your current employer doesn't object to your joining the Territorial Army while retaining your employment with that organization. This is an NOC to avoid a conflict of interest or otherwise in their work. However, if you are a student or not employed, you do not need an NOC. It is always a good idea to check the specific guidelines of the recruitment process for any updates or additional requirements.

The Territorial Army (TA) recruitment notification for 2024 was released on July 15, 2024, on the official website. The application process for the recruitment began on the same day, and the last date to apply was September 12, 2024. The admit card release date is yet to be announced.
The selection process for TA officer posts is a four-phase process:
- Phase I: Document check and benchmarking of candidates based on qualifications
- Phase II: Written test
- Phase III: Practical test
