If you're talking about Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (commonly called Thapar University), here's the simple procedure:

✅ Admission Process (B.Tech)

  1. Appear for JEE Main – Most seats are filled based on your JEE Main rank.

  2. Apply on Thapar's official website – Fill the online application form when admissions open.

  3. Counselling process – Based on your JEE percentile + 12th marks (PCM criteria applies).

  4. Seat allotment & fee payment – If you meet the cutoff, you confirm your seat by paying the fee.

📌 Eligibility

  • 60%+ in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) in 12th (check the latest brochure for exact criteria).

Yes, you can directly register online for admission at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology through their official admission portal.

Here's how it generally works:

  • Visit the official website and go to the Admissions section.

  • Fill out the online application form.

  • Upload required documents.

  • Pay the application fee.

  • Appear for required entrance exam (like JEE Main / CAT / etc., depending on the course).

Admission is usually based on entrance exam scores + eligibility criteria, so registration alone doesn't guarantee admission.

Honestly, Thapar is a good private engineering college, but it does come at a cost.

For B.Tech, the total expense for 4 years (including tuition + hostel) usually goes around ₹28–35 lakhs, depending on your branch and accommodation. It's on the higher side compared to many colleges, so budgeting is important.

As for faculty, most professors are qualified (many with PhDs), and academics are taken seriously. Teaching quality is generally considered good, especially in core branches like CSE, ECE, and Mechanical. Like any big university, experiences can vary by department and individual professor.

If fees aren't a major constraint and yo

With 95.94 percentile in JEE Mains, you have a strong chance at Thapar University for most branches 👍

What you can expect:

  • CSE / CSE (AI/ML) / COE – Good chances (may depend on category & counselling round)

  • ECE / ENC / EEE – Very safe

  • ✅ Other branches – Almost confirmed

Thapar admissions are primarily based on JEE Main percentile (50% seats) and 12th board marks (50% seats).

👉 Make sure you:

  • Apply through the official Thapar admission portal

  • Participate in counselling rounds

  • Keep backup branch preferences ready

If you tell me your 12th percentage + category (if any), I can give a more accurate estimate.

Honestly speaking, chances are very low.

With 75% in boards and 26 percentile in JEE Main, getting admission to Thapar University (TIET) for BTech is unlikely, even in lower-demand branches. Thapar's cut-offs are usually much higher, especially for JEE-based admissions.

You might have a very slim chance only if:

  • Seats remain vacant in later counselling rounds

  • You're open to non-core / less demanded branches

  • You have Punjab domicile or reserved category
